"Hello,  My relative was Paul Bugdoll. He came to the United States from Lubom/Poland and worked in the Eccles coal mine No 5. He survived two mine disasters and was married with Dora Agnes Page from Beckley.
I got some documents from him which I can submit to you for your great homepage. I am interested to find some photos of Paul Bugdoll. Did you ever hear about Paul? It will be really great for me to hear from you. Much greetings from snowy and cold Germany"..  Georg Palmueller

"Do you know of anyone who would know a Lonnie Vaughn who lived in Eccles, he died December 1976 and I am looking for him for genealogy research, I believe that he may be the same Lonnie Vaughn that was born in Logan County WV to Anthelia and L. E. Vaughn. Are there any cemeteries online in Eccles? or funeral home records. Any help is  appreciated."

"Hi Dennis, The more I go on your site, the more I think I knew your grandfather when I was a child in the 40's. There was an old man who used to come down to Glen Daniel to Church when we had a revival and he always got up and testified about surviving the explosion at Eccles. I am almost 62, but remember vividly how much faith this man had. Just recently I spoke of him at Church here in Ohio when we were talking about the old-timers and their testimonies. When he would start speaking, his English was understandable and halfway thru when he really got in the spirit; he reverted to his native language. I am glad I can remember a man with such faith in God.
I wanted you to know someone remembers him. It must be him, how many survivors were named Frank?
Question for you...I sent the url for your page to a couple of relatives who are on aol and they can't access the photos. Do you have any idea why this would be. My cousin in CO. had no problem, it's only the ones on aol." Pat Wall Daniels

REPLY:

Pat, I don't think it was my grandfather  Frank Hadra / Chadra. In the 40's he owned a farm in Southern Illinois and only traveled to Chicago during that period. ... Dennis Chadra

"My grandfather C. P. Shrewsbury was Stationmaster at the Virginian Railway Station in Eccles and had to retire due to a heart attack about 1941. I would  dearly love to see a picture of the old station. I remember my Mom taking me on Old "Fanny" the last run from Eccles to Lester. Do you happen to know what year that was? Since I grew up at Glen Daniel, the Eccles area is very familiar to me. I really enjoyed seeing all the photos." Pat Wall Daniels

"Would you tell Adrian (Bostic) his father was the boss of my two brothers and father in law when they worked on the tipple. His Grandfather was my fathers boss when he worked in Eccles as a carpenter for the coal co.  Elwood drove the school bus and he and Mr. Shumate would race the school bus to see who would be the first to get to Trap Hill. Adrian's (Bostic) Great Great Great Grandmother was a Ballard and they all came from Monroe County, WV"   Boyd Ballard

"My grandfather worked at Eccles, too.  He is Elbert Williams at household #333 in 1920.   His brother Wirt and a brother-in-law Porter Hurt also were there in 1920.  My mom's first cousin lived at Eccles and we used to visit there often.  I looked at your pictures.  Thank so much for sharing them.   I'm glad your ancestor survived the explosion.  I heard from someone else this week whose ancestor was not so lucky.  It would be interesting to know the names of other survivors.  What a horrible experience! The report card signed by Mrs. B. L. Bostick was Mrs. Barger Lee Bostick.  Her first name was Gertrude.  They were my cousin's aunt and uncle" http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~nylasgenealogy Nyla Creed
