Men in the New River Company Store, Cranberry, WV taken around 1950-1960

Submitted by Ellen Smith The New River Company Store Antiques. Cranberry, WV. October 21, 2004

Addition:

There are three men behind the counter. The first man is wearing a suit. The next man is wearing a white shirt and tie. His name is Thomas Havel Woolwine (1912 - 4 Sep 1993). I do not know the third man who was wearing a white shirt and tie. I got the info from my brother Jim Creed. When he told me to look at Havel worked there prior to that time. the picture, I knew it was Havel, too. My brother worked at the Cranberry Company Store, about the early 50's. If you want to get a more accurate date, feel free to write to him at ...."

p.s. As long as I remember, Havel Woolwine and his wife Ora (Conner) lived next door to my grandmother (Leota Dickens Williams) at Prosperity. Nyla

Correction:

"Thanks for your site. I have found it very interesting. Just one small correction on the picture of the Cranberry Company Store 1950's: Havel Woolwine's wife was Ara (pronounced errah), not Ora. Ara was a nurse for many years. He was my first cousin and received the name "Havel" after my father, Fletcher Havel Lively. They grew up together and were the best of friends. Thanks again."
